Category Archives: Canon 70-300 IS Here are 2 more Oban views from my Oban visit last week. The first one is another handheld HDR image from the 5th floor of the Royal Hotel on its fire escape which I posted yesterday. This was taken with the very wide angle 10-20 giving an effective 16mm focal length on the Canon 40D….  I often drive by the lochside at the mouth of loch long while working, and there is often a naval supply ship docked. Imagine my surprise a few weeks ago to round the bend and see an aircraft carrier in front of me. It’s HMS Illustrious and I don’t expect to see it in Loch…  What makes life fun, (or even bearable), is other people. I am always fascinated by the idea of talent, you know, people who are so effortlessly brilliant at something that they produce huge results and are totally energised by what they do. One such example is John, a colleague who is an elite class musician,…  It snowed all day here in Howwood, so I only went out locally. One trip was to refresh my feeders, shortly afterwards I caught this little guy making free with our largesse. These are before and during the crime shots. The light was getting low so I popped up my flash and just used it…  Today while walking with friends near Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, I took this picture of the Tobermory Lighthouse. It was interesting as sunset was approaching and the light would only strike the lighthouse directly in the morning.
